The Ceremony

Here Comes the Bride

Nothing beats the emotional moment of the bride appearing - arriving by punt down the River Avon is a truly memorable scene stealer and very easily organised.

Alternately coming via the gatehouse and down the official entrance towards the homestead brings the bride into a setting of natural beauty which both calms and enhances the special moment for her, to then alight on the doorstep ready for the formalities.

Options for your ceremony include being outside under the trees or by the river, on the patio or inside the homestead itself.

You may have a ceremony and photographs in other parts of the Mona Vale Gardens, but need to apply to the Christchurch City Council for permission - www.ccc.govt.nz/parks/gardencity.

In the punt, on the arched bridge, under the spreading chestnut tree, in front of the gardens, amongst the daffodils, ascending the magnificent formal staircase, all the guests in a group shot from the balcony: Mona Vale is a bride's – and a photographer's - dream for beautiful, romantic backdrops.

The Wedding Reception

Catering

Continental has been catering for South Island events for more than 45 years, and managing Mona Vale for the Christchurch City Council for more than 25 years. We know how to take care of your wishes and create a very special day for the wedding couple and the guests to remember.

The homestead itself can cater for up to 110 guests seated or 200 (170) people cocktail style - or we can supply a beautifully adorned silk marquee situated on the Iris Lawn. In addition to a superb range of menu options, we can also organise special themed decor, stylish seating and tables, flowers, sound equipment, lighting, entertainment - everything to make your day a success.

We pride ourselves on delivering to you a very personal service from the initial planning to the conclusion of your festivities.
